“Taxidi 18” Pameran Tunggal Nyoman Sujana Kenyem
Nyoman Sujana Kenyem
Perupa Nyoman Sujana Kenyem menggelar pameran tunggal di Bidadari Art Space, Mas, Ubud, 26 Januari-26 Februari 2020. Pameran tunggal bertajuk “Taxidi 18” itu menyajikan 35 karya yang mengusung tema alam dan lingkungan. Dalam karyanya itu, Kenyem masih berpijak dari permenungan panjang tentang alam yang lebih mendalam dan hakiki.
Kenyem mengaku, tetap intens dan konsisten berimajinasi tentang lingkungan yang masih tetap relevan sejak ia pertama kali berkarya pada 30 tahun silam. Karya terbaru dalam pameran seluruhnya berukuran kecil, yang dimaksudkan sebagai mozaik alam yang diimajinasikan Kenyem. Pameran rencananya dibuka Kepala Dinas Kebudayaan Bali Dr. Wayan Kun Adnyana, Minggu (26/1/2020).
Yang kental dari karya terbaru ini adalah abstraksi cahaya dan warna alam dengan goresan khas serta ikon figur-figur yang seolah menjadi misteri dalam lukisan Kenyem. “Pameran ini merupakan salah satu bagian dari proses kreatif perjalanan berkesenian saya, seperti merekam jejak hidup,” kata pria kale mini, Rabu (2/1).
Dosen ISI Denpasar Wayan Sujana Suklu yang juga sahabat Kenyem menuliskan “taxidi” diambil dari kosakata Yunani yang berarti perjalanan dengan pemaknaan luas sesuai masing-masing citraan yang ditampilkan. “Bukan hanya perihal perjalanan ke terminal yang ingin dituju, tetapi juga penting soal pemaknaan proses selangkah demi selangkah menuju titik pencapaian tersebut,” uangkapnya.
Suklu berkisah tentang kedekatannya dengan Kenyem yang diawali dengan kesamaan pilihan menekuni seni rupa dan kuliah di STSI Denpasar (kini ISI Denpasar) yang digambarkan sebagai perjalanan 1, 2, 3, dan 4. Dalam perjalanan berikutnya, tumbuh kesadaran baru dalam penghadiran kaya seni ke ruang publik. Artistika sebagai struktur formal dari bahasa rupa merupakan implementasi dari reduksi gagasan serta pernyataan individual seorang perupa.
Suklu menyebut bahasa rupa sesungguhnya sebagai medium untuk menyampaikan pesan-pesan ideologis perupa. Ia juga menuliskan perjalanan bersama Made Suta Kesuma, Nyoman Sujana Kenyem, dan Ketut Susena dalam kelompok “Mandala of Life” yang dinilai banyak memberikan pencerahan terhadap keempat anggotanya..
Kiprah Kenyem mengarungi kelana rupa ke berbagai kota dan meneguk dahaga referensi dengan melakukan kunjungan ke berbagai negara untuk studi banding visual alam lingkungan secara pribadi. Upaya itu disusul mengikuti berbagai pameran dan terlibat dalam sejumlah aktivitas kesenirupaan yang semakin mematangkan perjalanan Kenyem hingga 7, 8, dan 9.
Waktu pun begitu cepat berlalu, dalam hitungan Sukklu, perjalanan sahabatnya tersebut barangkali kini telah melompat dua kali. “Kalau dihitung dua kali sembilan perjalanan yang telah ia lampaui, apakah kini Kenyem telah mencapai jenjang kedelapanbelas?” tanya Suklu.
Barangkali di luar kesadaran, seperti figur-figur repetitif yang kerap muncul dalam karya Kenyem, lompatan perjalanan itu telah menjadikan eksistensi dan pendewasaan berkesenian seorang Kenyem.
Pada akhirnya Suklu menyimpulkan pameran Taxidi 18 adalah salah satu bagian serangkaian perjalanan yang cukup panjang. Ekspresinya merupakan persepsi dan impresi estetis yahng diungkapkan melalui karyab terkini dalam pameran ini. (B/*)

Reddit user u/ElPresidente714 admitted to trying to have sex in the desert at night when coming back from Vegas.

Another, u/DonSmitty said a ‘buddy in high school’ covered his girlfriend (including her genitals) in chocolate syrup.

ANGELA HARTNETT’S BEEF & VEAL MEATBALLS
Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight supper and there are many ways to serve them (see tip).
The veal in these gives a lightness to the result,
but you can swap it out for all beef, or flavourful pork mince.
This is a good way to use up any day-old bread hanging around.
The recipe is easy to double up on and freeze so you have a meal for an emergency.
SERVES 4
4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
400g tin chopped tomatoes
200g white bread (day old, if possible)
whole milk (enough to soak the bread)
500g beef mince
250g English veal mince
2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve
4 anchovies, finely chopped
2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley
salt and freshly ground black pepper
350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)
1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive oil over a medium heat, then add half the chopped onion and half the garlic, then sauté for 10 minutes to soften.
Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts to bubble, reduce to a simmer and leave to cook,
stirring occasionally (about 20 minutes, to create a thick sauce), while you make the
meatballs.
2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft.
In another bowl, mix the beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the parsley and the
rest of the onions and garlic. Then add the soaked bread,
lightly squeezing any excess milk from it first. Mix well and
season with salt and pepper. Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.
3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat.
When hot, add the meatballs, turning (for about 5 minutes) to ensure
they colour all over. If necessary, cook in batches so they are not all squashed together, setting each batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.
4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over a medium heat.
Put the meatballs back into the pan for a further 4-5 minutes to cook through.
Sprinkle with the remaining parsley before serving.
TIP You can serve the meatballs as they come, or on top of spaghetti.
If you would prefer the latter, cook the pasta according to the packet
instructions until al dente. Drain it in a colander, reserving a cupful of the cooking water to loosen the meatball
sauce if necessary, and then transfer it back to the pan and toss
it with a little olive oil and butter. Put
the spaghetti on a serving plate and top with the meatballs and sauce.
Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan.

Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that
transparency and integrity is at the heart of their reason for
entering Parliament in the first place hear themselves?
In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against proposed electoral reforms that the major

At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made – but you only find out the details of who has given what to whom many months
later, well after elections are won and lost.
In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much greater transparency and far less big
money being injected into campaigning by the wealthy.
Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were ‘running scared’ with the policy and warned the reform would ‘not stop the rot’
Greens senate leader Larissa Waters (left) fired a warning shot – saying
if it serves only the major parties ‘it’s a rort, not reform’. Teal
independent ACT senator David Pocock (right) said:
‘What seems to be happening is a major-party stitch-up’
Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party, as opposed to $16,000 under the current rules, will need to disclose having done so.
And how much they can donate will be capped.
Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a ‘stitch-up’, ‘outrageous’ and ‘a rort, not a reform’.
They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor’s proposal just might secure the support of
the opposition.
I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to write this column.
Because I had assumed – incorrectly – that these important transparency measures stamping out the influence of
the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens or the corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench
effort to drag the major parties closer to accountability.
More fool me.
The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being
put forward by Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal
of crossbenchers.
It makes you wonder what they have to hide. Put simply, the Greens and
Teals doth protest too much on this issue.
Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political
donors such as Clive Palmer
Another potential target of the laws is businessman and Teal funder
Simon Holmes à Court
The Greens have taken massive donations in the past, contrary to their irregular
calls to tighten donations rules (Greens leader Adam Bandt and Senator Mehreen Faruqi are pictured)
The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of Simon Holmes à Court wields
behind the scenes amongst the Teals.
And we know the Greens have taken massive donations from the
wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular calls
to tighten donations rules.
Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of virtue are running a mile
from reforms that will curtail dark art of political donations.
The Labor government isn’t even seeking for these transparency rules to take effect
immediately, by the way. It won’t be some sort of quick-paced power play before the
next election designed to catch the crossbench out.
They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone enough
time to absorb and understand the changes before preparing for them.
Don’t get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor and the Coalition. I imagine the opposition want
to go over the laws with a fine tooth comb.
As they should – because it certainly isn’t beyond Labor to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would
create loopholes only the unions are capable of taking advantage of, therefore disadvantaging the Coalition electorally in the years to come.
But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these proposed laws implemented,
the crossbench should offer their support, not cynical opposition, to what is being advocated for.
They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could be incorporated in the package.
To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard false commentary about being in politics to ‘clean things up’.

between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner
Bros. Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.
It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC
two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.
Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told
a reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this is
kind of a Warner Bros. movie.’
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and
Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles
if the director would make the sequel at a lower price point.’
The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per cent less.
A source directly involved with the film recently shared: ‘The one thing about genre

However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining static.
A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the decision to film in Los Angeles’.
