I Gusti Made Lumbung, Tularkan Ilmu Seni Bangkitkan Kreativitas Generasi Muda
I Gusti Made Lumbung, seniman tabuh asal Banjar Lambing, Desa Mambal, Kecamatan Abiansemal, Badung itu tak hanya piawai megamel, tetapi juga banyak mencetak penabuh yang handal. Ia sangat percaya, memainkan gamelan tradisional Bali itu, tak hanya sekedar menjalankan hobi, tetapi dapat mengasah keterampilan serta sebagai pembelajaran budi pekerti. “Megamel memiliki manfaat lebih, karena dapat menyeimbangkan otak kanan dan kiri serta membangkitkan kecerdasan emosional (EQ) anak,” katanya ramah.
Lelaki, kelahiran 31 Desember 1948 itu mengaku, menekuni seni tabuh bukan berdasarkan keturunan. Ia belajar seni tabuh secara otodidak tanpa ada pelatih yang pasti. Ketika anak-anak dulu, ia sering bermaian di bale banjar. Di sana ada gamelan gong kebyar, sebuah barungan gamelan hasil dari peleburan gamelan Semarapagulingan, sehingga ia bersama teman-temannya mencoba memainkan gamelan baru itu. “Pada umur 15 tahun, tepatnya tahun 1965, saya sudah biasa menabuh bergabung bersama anak-anak lainnya,” ceritanya senang.
Gusti Lumbung yang masih bocah itu, dipercaya memainkan tabuh-tabuh kuno pada upacara melaspas Sekolah Rakyat (sekolah dasar sekarang) Desa Lambing. Saat itu, ia sebagai penabuh yang memainkan ugal, pemimpin. “Saat itu, banjar memang sebagai tempat untuk belajar seni. Mestinya, banjar-banjar yang ada sekarang lebih fokus dijadikan tempat belajar seni, selain kegiatan banjar lainnya,” ujar suami dari Ni Wayan Suriadi ini serius.
Masa anak-anak dulu, sangat menyenangkan. Walau hanya memiliki satu permainan yaitu gamelan di banjar, namun pertemanan antara anak yang satu dengan yang lainnya sangat kompak dan penuh rasa kebersamaan. Anak-anak jaman dulu, mau meluangkan waktunya untuk berlatih. Demikian pula, para orang tua yang bisa memainkan gamelan, juga bersedia meluangkan waktunya untuk melatihnya. “Saat itu tidak ada alat penerangan seperti sekarang, namun kami senang bermain dengan alat gamelan,” ucapnya.
Walau sebagai penabuh cilik tergolong pemula, tetapi ia sudah biasa memainkan Tabuh Telu dan tabuh lringan tari legong. Bahkan, melakukan aktivitas ini hingga menjadi murid SMP. Namun, ia tidak memiliki cita-cita menjadi seniman, sehingga melanjutkan pendidikan ke Sekolah Menengah Ekonomi Atas (SMEA) Denpasar bukan ke Kokar (SMKN 3 Sukawati sekarang). “Setelah paman yang sebagai pelatih meninggal, saya merasa terdorong untuk melanjutkan profesinya sebagai seniman,” ucapnya.
Gusti Lumbung kemudian pindah ke Kokar (SMKN 3 Sukawati sekarang). Ia merasa jengah karena tokoh seni yang begitu baik telah tiada, sehingga merasa terpanggil untuk tetap menjaga kesenian yang ada di Banjar Lambing. Memang, sebelum menjadi murid di sekolah seni itu, ia sudah biasa melatih teman-temannya. Apalagi, setelah menjadi siswa seni, ia langsung terpilih sebagai tukang kendang. Ia sebagai penabuh inti, hingga dipercaya pentas di Iran memperkuat rombongan kesenian Pemerintah Provinsi Bali. “Menjelang berangkat ke Iran, saya melakukan upacara mesakapan (menikah). Upacara tersebut berlangsung pagi, dan siangnya berangkat ke Iran,” kenangnya.
Tokoh seni di Badung itu, juga biasa menjadi penabuh bon (memperkuat sekaa gong lain) ketika tampil dalam festival. Jadwal pentasnya sangat padat. Dalam satu malam, ia bisa berpindah-pindah memainkan gemelan, dari satu banjar ke banjar lainnya. Ia sangat jarang ada di rumah, bahkan sampai tidak pulang selama 3 – 5 hari. Uniknya, ia melatih penabuh hingga tiga generasi, sehingga kakek dan cucu sama-sama dapat merasakan suara hatinya. Tamat Kokar, Gusti Lumbung melanjutkan pendidikan seni di Akademi Seni Tari Indonesia (ASTI) atau Insitut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Denpasar sekarang, namun tidak sampai tamat. Ia lebih senang melatih dari pada belajar. “Saya kemudian meninggalkan sekolah untuk kembali mengunjungi desa-desa menuangkan ilmu yang saya miliki. Walau hanya dengan mengayuh sepeda dan tidak mengenal hujan dan dingin, tetapi saya merasa senang bisa berbagi,” kenangnya.
Sebagai pelatih, ia telah merasakan pahit getir dalam proses mengajar, namun ia tidak pernah mengeluh. Ia melatih tabuh dari desa ke desa tidak minta upah. Ia selalu diberikan jagung, ketela, dan hasil kebun lainnya oleh para penabuh. Menariknya, para penabuh itu memberikan secara bergiliran, sehingga ketika pulang selalu ada oleh-oleh buat anak istri. “Selain melatih ke desa-desa, saya juga banyak melatih sekaa gong di instansi dan kantor-kantor. Nah, ketika melatih sekaa gong Telkom, saya diberikan kesempatan untuk mengabdi atau sebagai pegawai honor, lalu diangkat menjadi pegawai tetap,” imbuhnya.
Kini, di usianya yang semakin uzur, Gusti Lumbung jarang melatih ke desa-desa lain. Ia hanya aktif sebagai koordinator sekaa gong di Badung yang akan tampil di ajang Pesta Kesenian Bali (PKB). Ia aktif membina anak-anak memainkan gamelan tradisional Bali. Ia percaya dalam memainkan gamelan anak-anak, secara bebas bisa mengungkapkan ekspresinya. Mereka melakukan dengan senang dan tanpa beban, sehingga mampu membangkitkan kreativitas anak-anak. (AD/Ar)
